WHO IS martin strang?
Based in Buenos Aires-Argentina, Martin Strang is a multi instrumentalist, composer, Singer - Songwriter and Music producer.
Martin started his journey into music at age 9 starting with keyboards. Later, in high school playing in a band with his friends (rhythm guitar and vocals). At 17 he got his first recording session in a studio with a song of his own composition presented in a “battle of the bands” TV national competition in Ecuador in 1997.
A couple years later Martin experimented with flamenco band “Morisca” getting contracts for live gigs and an appearance in prime time television on HTV.
After moving to Spain for a while to study an MBA, Martin returned fully to music in 2006 and formed the band “Joe’s Cafe” as bassist, backing vocals, Singer - Songwriter. His song “I can’t take no for an answer” were produced by the electronic musician Gabriel Montufar. The song gained moderate radio air play in Ecuador at the three top radio stations (Metro 88.5, Hot 106.1, La Bruja 107.3)
Martin continue studying in different areas of music. He took bass lessons for a year with Jazz musician Cayo Iturralde, and got a specialization in Contemporary Music and another one in Music Business at Berklee College of Music.
In late 2018 Martin began his solo project “Duality” released in July 2021 (100.000 streams in the first month) in which; Music, lyrics, vocals, guitars, bass and keyboards were recorded and performed by himself. The project also features guest musicians like Argentinean singer Mer Marcalle, Ecuadorian drummer Pepe German (Former “Pies en la tierra”, “Tigres del Chaulafán”) plus session drummers from the U.S. and Canada.
Duality’s first single “Back in Time” (Release 11/02/2020) was recorded in Buenos Aires by Martin Strang, mixed by Chris Peden in Winchester at Katsu Studios and mastered in London England at LML Mastering by Julian Lowe. His credits includes Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams, Dawes, Janet Jackson among others.
During the Covid-19 Lockdown, Martin Strang composed and recorded the Instrumental Jazz EP “The Lockdown Sessions” (Release 24/04/2020)
In August 2022 Martin is releasing his new Jazz EP “The LO-FI Sessions”, a wonderful trip of introspection that reflects the authors style of Jazz Funk grooves with heavy influences from genres like R&B, Pop and Hip Hop.
Siento qué (New Moon) is the main single in this album and the sole track with vocals on it. It’s a song that reclaims the Argentinean Ballad in our current era. Elegant, mysterious, modern, classic…

Based in Buenos Aires-Argentina, Martin Strang is a multi instrumentalist, composer, singer - songwriter, and music producer.
His music contains traits of the genres he grow up with: Jazz, Funk, Soul, Rock, Pop and even some rapping is what you could expect by listening to this eclectic artist.
“Every time I sit at the studio I’m about to improvise and record everything on the go. Then wash and repeat until satisfied with everything. My music is complex, subtle and honest. I compose what I would like to hear based on my many influences as a musician, hoping to land in the ears of people that would relate.

Martin is in essence a self taught musician even though he took lessons with Jazz Musicians and got two specializations at Berklee College of Music (Contemporary Music, Music Business)
